In still yet another sign how real the demise of old-school recruiting strategies and techniques is, I just discovered the Hired! group on Facebook.
Hired! is a weekly column, sponsored by CNNMoney.com that profiles what individual job seekers hav done to achieve success. It also includes commentary from career experts designed to help others learn from these examples. And with just a quick glance you discover how a few businesses have tapped social networking sites to recruit their talent. This creative utilization of a Facebook page seems to be just another nail in the coffin for print media's help wanted ads.
On the group page, the real story is this: job seekers in various industries, regions and levels have found employment despite the recession and the worst job market in 25 years. And when you read between the lines of success stories, the page is also littered with companies offering jobs and opportunity.
While we still have a long way to go and the unemployment rate will likely remain high for months if not years to come, this Facebook page is a sure sign that even in turbulent times, there are triumphs.
(And don't forget to become a fan of Geeks, Geezers, and Googlization, too.)
